POST #1: BIBLICAL ALLUSIONS IN THE OLD MAN & THE SEA (July 11-15)

Santiago has often been referenced as a "Christ-like figure" in Hemingway's novel. What Biblical allusions can you find that parallel either Santiago as a "Christ-like figure" or to Santiago's struggle with the fish or to something completely separate?
